With the new numbering series being available, mobile companies are going to get crores by sell special mobile numbers through auction . All companies invite customers to bid for such premium numbers, either through their websites or through customer service outlets or through salesperson.
How much they get for a premium mobile number ?
BSNL, Idea, Tata Teleservices , Vodafone, Airtel etc have auctioned premium numbers and earn huge money, particularly from politicians and businessmen. In August '08 alone, state-owned BSNL earned Rs 1.15 crore from the auction of 2000 numbers. Vodafone sold the most expensive number so far at Rs 15 lakh in 2007 to a businessman. Tata Teleservices routinely auctions cellular numbers on its website, with prices ranging from Rs 10,000 to over Rs 1 lakh.
